This is a searchable dictionary of 1500 words in 300 Indonesian languages, digitised from the volumes published by Stokhof & Saleh-Bronkhorst in the 1980s. These collated the vocabularies that were produced by local officials throughout the country from 1882–1939 as part of Karel Holle's project to document the various languages of the archipelago.
The aim, in this initial phase, is to preserve and present this resource in a far more efficient, useable manner than was ever available to Holle and S&SB. In time I hope to use these lists as the skeleton for a complete, up-to-date dictionary containing every language in the country, fleshed out by contributions from visitors to the site in an open collaborative model.
